Cancer survivor Mamta's 10-year challenge - recognising her own strength

1 of 2

The 10-year challenge might be the usual trend for many teens and celebrities, but for Indian film actress and playback singer Mamta Mohandas, the past 10 years were a period of recognising her own strength.

In 2009 the actor, who predominantly works in Malayalam films along with Telugu and Tamil productions, was facing one of the biggest challenges of her life.

Mamta, who studied at the Indian School Bahrain until 2002, was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma and was undergoing treatment during the time.

As cancer is regarded as one of the deadliest diseases ever seen, fighting the disease is a bit difficult for many.

But the actress chose to fight with all her strength. From 2009 to 2019 she has faced some crucial events including the life-threatening disease as well as some personal flaws. But neither the disease nor other individuals were able to let her down.

On 'World Cancer Day' the actress has shared an inspiring note of her success story. The actress took to her Instagram handle to share her 10-year challenge photographs.

As it’s WORLD CANCER DAY, I had decided that my #10yearchallenge will have to wait until today “I GOT CANCER... CANCER DIDN’T GET ME”🌚🌝 2009 was the year that changed everything for me and impacted every plan my family had for us. Last 10 years has been quite a challenge and as I look back come 2019, I’m proud to realize that I have fought tirelessly, stayed strong and survived. Staying positive and strong for several years is very hard but if I have done it, there are a few people behind it. All Thanks to Dad-Mom(thank you is a speck of a word to express my gratitude to you), a few of my cousins who have shown me what sibling-love is and my dearest friends who always cared to call or text to check if I am ‘actually well’ and not just pretending to be ok(strong people tend to do this a lot and eventually run into depression 😄🤦🏻‍♀️🤭), all the good work that comes my way and colleagues who challenge me to perform better and to all the opportunities given to me by the universe to realize what’s right for me and what’s not Never forget Bald Heads Turn Heads 😁 HAPPY WORLD CANCER DAY! #worldcancerday #survivor #nevergiveup #dealwithit #attitude #gratitude #happiness #stressfree #challenge #runner
