BAHRAIN Rugby Football Club (BRFC) ‘A’ won against Dilmun Club ‘A’ 33-17 last night in a match-up between two of the top three teams in the 2018/2019 Bahrain Netball League.
The current league leaders started strong and never looked back. They took a 6-2 lead at the end of the first quarter but then enjoyed a 12-goal second period to power ahead 18-5.
They didn’t let up the rest of the way, securing their second win in as many outings to begin the second round of the season.
Centre Jeannine Wessles was named the Player of the Match for BRFC ‘A’ side while goal attack Amani Al Asfoor was the top performer for Dilmun ‘A’.
The result helped BRFC ‘A’ extend their lead on the championship standings, but remaining in hot pursuit are defending champions British Club ‘A’, who enjoyed their own big win last night with a 29-5 triumph against Topshots 29-5.
Encounter
British Club ‘A’ were led by centre Charlotte Collinson, who was named their best player in the game. Goal defence Katie Blaker was the top talent for Topshots.
Meanwhile, a pair of sister squads were in action last night against one another.
BRFC ‘B’ defeated BRFC ‘C’ 23-5 in their encounter. Goal attack Maisie Brandreth of BRFC ‘B’ and Sophia Lord of BRFC ‘C’ were named the Players of the Match for their respective sides.
British Club ‘C’ defeated British Club ‘B’ 34-7 in the other inter-club fixture. Goal shooter Leanne Simms was the top player for the victors, while centre Amani was the best performer in the losing effort.
League action continues on Tuesday next week with four matches at BRFC in Saar.
