Muscat – A student of Class XI, enrolled at the Indian School Muscat , died yesterday on the school premises.
The Times of Oman reported that the fifteen-year-old boy was rushed to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The reason for the death is yet to be ascertained and the Royal Oman Police are investigating the matter.
Since the boy was not feeling well, his teacher had asked him to go to the first aid room.
Instead, he went and sat in another empty classroom. There, he fainted and was spotted by a staff member, at around 11:15am.
He was rushed to the nearest hospital when his condition was discovered in the school. On arriving there, hospital officials confirmed that he was dead
His body was transported to the government mortuary in an ambulance, where his paperwork was verified by the police and hospital authorities.
The school has declared a holiday on Thursday and all the exams have been cancelled.
“The school will remain closed on Thursday. The Indian School Muscat family expresses its sincere condolences to the bereaved family and we pray that the departed soul may rest in eternal peace.”. it said in a circular to parents.
The exams scheduled for tomorrow will be held on Saturday, February 23, from 7am to 10.45am.
Remedial classes scheduled for tomorrow also stand cancelled.
Extra-curricular activities scheduled for the coming weekend had also been postponed.
The boy's family is from the Indian city of Hyderabad.
