BAHRAIN’S Yousef Falah and Ahmed Rahimi bagged the men’ doubles gold medals last night in the ninth Arab Men’s and fifth Ladies’ Bowling Championship 2019 in Cairo.
Earlier fellow-Bahrainis Noora Sultan and Nadia Al Awadhi captured the women’s doubles silver medals.
Falah and Rahimi claimed the title with 2,756 pins between them in the six-game contest.
They finished with an average of 229.67 pins per game and registered a high score of 503 in their third outing.
Noora and Nadia secured their silver medals with a total of 2,284 pins in six games for an average of 190.33.
A total of 21 teams competed in the men’s event while 14 featured in the women’s section.
Bahrain’s two other men’s teams also finished in the top 10. Ahmed Al Khaja and Osama Abdulrahman were seventh overall with a 2,560 combined score for a 213.33 average. They had a high score of 471 in game four.
Ahmed Alqaod and Abdulla Abdulkarim were ninth with a total of 2,499, 208.25 average and a high game of 459.
Oman’s Musaab Al Adawi and Yassir Al Barwani claimed the men’s silver medals while Saudi Arabia’s Hassan Al Shaiekh and Abdulrahman Alkheliwi took home the bronze.
Bahrain’s other duo of Reem Sultan and Layla Janahi claimed sixth place overall in the women’s doubles. They posted a total of 1,988 pins and an average of 165.67 with a high game of 413.
Finishing ahead of Noora and Nadia and capturing the women’s gold medals were the Egyptians Sara Gamal and Mennat Soultan. Egypt’s second pairing of Shereen Saleh and Allaa Ismail claimed bronze medals.
With the completion of the doubles events, Bahrain bowlers are now set to compete in their respective teams competitions.
They will then hope that their individual scores will put them in the top three of the all events classification in order to win a medal, plus a place to qualify for the masters events.
