Riyadh: Crown Prince, Deputy Premier and Defence Minister Prince Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud gave orders to release 2,107 prisoners.
Pakistan's Foreign Minister, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, confirmed the Saudi Crown Prince’s gesture in a statement on his Twitter account.
Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday night had made a special request to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to look into the hardships of Pakistani labourers working in Saudi Arabia, according to to the Dawn newspaper.
According to Sabq, the overall number of Pakistani prisoners jailed in Saudi Arabia stand at 3,000. (Official statistics of the Pakistani Foreign Ministry).
HRH Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman has graciously agreed to free 2107 Pakistani prisoners in Saudi Arabia with immediate effect. Cases of the remaining will be reviewed. People of Pakistan thank HRH for responding immediately to Prime Minister Imran Khan's request.
