Abu Dhabi: UAE authorities have banned two new medical products due to non-compliance with health standards.
Health and Prevention Ministry warned against the use of 'Aclitaxel-Coated Balloons and Paclitaxel-Eluting Stents' based on directives from the GCC Health Council, reported Albayan.
Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health and Licensing Dr. Amin Hussein Al-Amiri issued a circular in this regard to medical zones' directors, public and private hospitals, doctors and pharmarcies.
The rate of deaths has increased among patients who used these products to treat peripheral arterial diseases.
The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention has also issued a circular warning against the danger of using 'Cleanline-Ultrasound Gel Sanitizer ' which is manufactured in Saudi Arabia.
According to the circular, lab analysis revealed a 'very high rate of cell toxicity ', which makes it inadequate for medical use.
