Riyadh - Violators convicted of tampering with information in their vehicle or health insurance documents could be sentenced to five years in jail.
According to new penalties, lawbreakers caught in breach of the rules and regulations could be fined SR 400,000.
The Media and Insurance Awareness Committee specified the penalties as it launched a campaign in collaboration with local insurance companies to increase public awareness about the penalties.
The committee urged the general public to purchase insurance certificates from registered Saudi insurance companies or their authorised agents.
Under article (13) of the Anti-Forgery Law, whoever falsifies commercial, financial or bank documents or insurance certificates shall be sentenced to 1 to 5 years in prison and a fine of SR400,000.
