The new initiatives by Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman, Bahrain Athletic Association president and Bahrain Sports Federation for Disabilities honorary president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa are meant to find new talents for the national teams and to encourage young people to take up more sports events.
Shaikh Khalid, who is patronising the Strongest Bahraini Championship, said, “Our initiatives have been introduced to support youth and encourage them to practice different types of sports as we intend to inject more talents into our national teams. This event carries an important message towards growing and building as well as developing our sports environment as we aim to introduce more sports events that embrace young people.”
The supporting activities of the second edition of the championship were held yesterday at the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC). The main activities will be held today at the same venue. The event kicked off on Thursday with registration as well as the weigh-ins. The proceeds of the championship will be donated in support of cancer patients.
BIC CEO Shaikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa said that the circuit has made all arrangements to ensure that the event is a resounding success.
