Two masked thieves who broke into a popular shopping mall in Sharjah armed with meat cleavers were apprehended in record time.
A CCTV video recording showed the two unidentified black-clad thieves as they entered the mall.
The incident took place at the LuLu Hypermarket on Al Wahda Road at 11.42pm on March 2.
The thieves, who are expats of African origin, had a run-in with security guards and a cashier who attempted to foil the robbery.
According to Sharjah Police, the masked men were apprehended shortly after the incident.
Brigadier Mohammad Rashid Bayat, director of Sharjah Police Operations, said, ”The police received a call about two masked men attacking the hypermarket staff, following which we reached the site in record time. Both the robbers were arrested.”
This despite the fact that they tried to hide their identities by wearing masks.
They were arrested by the police with the help of security guards before they could leave the premises.
The suspects were interrogated and have confessed to their crime. They have been transferred to the relevant authorities for further investigation.
During the attack, a cashier of the supermarket was severely injured and received treatment at Al Kuwaiti hospital.
