THE 2018-2019 edition of the Bahrain SWS Endurance Championship is set for a grand finale today and tomorrow with the much-anticipated 24-hour final round taking place at Bahrain International Karting Circuit (BIKC) in Sakhir.
The event is set to be the toughest tests of the endurance karting season, with multiple factors potentially influencing the race outcome including teamwork, stamina, the elements, the tough competition, and the like.
Spectators are welcome to watch the race for free.
A total of 14 teams have signed up for the meeting. Aside from competing for the best overall positioning in the final classification, the participants will also be battling it out in three different classes, namely the Pro, the Corporate and the Nations.
The participating squads include two Bapco teams, two Ice Racing teams, GO Bahrain, Racing Bahrain, Redline Racing, BeeSa Racing, Racing Bahrain Jr, Circuit Racing, Oman Racing, Cool Runnings, Redline Racing 2 and Made in Bahrain.
All the action will will be held along BIKC’s 1.414km Commission Internationale de Karting (CIK) track. The circuit is homologated for high-profile global events and it combines a great mix of corners and level changes that will challenge even the most experienced drivers. BIKC also offers facilities and electronic systems built to the highest standards.
The competing karters will be sharing the duties in identical 390cc Honda-powered Sodikart GTR 4s, each of which can generate up to 13HP.
Action begins at 1.30pm today with qualifying practice for 90 minutes. At 3.10pm, the final qualifying will take place. That sets the stage for the race at 4pm. The chequered flag comes down exactly a whole day later at 4pm tomorrow.
All the racing will be followed by the podium ceremony, scheduled to start at around 4.30pm.
The series’ champions will be entitled to free entry to the 24 Hours of Gulf Run Kuwait 2020.
