Kuwait City: The planned transfer of the Egyptian consulate in Kuwait to a new location has sparked a row, Al Qabas reported.
National Assembly member Safa Al Hashemi is leading a campaign to halt the transfer of the consulate to Al Salam district claiming that it would make the traffic worse.
"Many people would visit the consulate for various reasons daily which would cause more bottlenecks in the area which is already suffering from traffic jams," she said a letter addressed to Deputy Foreign Minister Khalid Al Jarallah.
She attached a petition signed by Kuwaiti nationals living in Al Salam, opposing the planned transfer of the Egyptian consulate.
However, a report posted by Al Anba said that the new location would provide more parking spaces. The new consular premises will open soon.
