SALEH Ali Al Kaabi and Nasser Yacoob were among the big winners in the second edition of the King Hamad Festival of Golf held at Awali Golf Club (AGC).
Two days of medal-format competition were played under less-than-ideal conditions with strong easterly winds battering both the course and the players.
Al Kaabi was the Day One Gross winner with a score of 66, while Yacoob was the Day Two victor with a gross 70.
Also emerging triumphant were Sun Kyu Kwak and Fares Essa Al Qutami. Sun won for the best Net on Day One of 66 from a gross 74, while Al Qutami had the best Net on Day Two of 64 from a gross 81.
After the event, AGC Captain Serwin Rampersad thanked His Majesty King Hamad and members of the Royal Court for their support.
Rampersad also made special mention of Ateeq Mujali and Deepa Johnson.
As with the first King Hamad Festival of Golf played in October 2017, prizes were stunningly lavish, with a whopping 28 cash prizes for Day One and 31 cash prizes for Day Two. Additionally, there were eight side prizes on each day with the winners receiving golf trolleys, bags or clubs, making for 75 prizes overall up for grabs.
Prizes were presented at the Bapco Club following play on Day Two. Some players were eligible for both gross and net prizes; however, there is a tradition of awarding only one prize to a player.
