Jaguar’s first all-electric car will be introduced to Bahrain’s roads later this year.
The British manufacturer’s first all-electric SUV, called the I-Pace, was showcased yesterday at the Euro Motors Jaguar Land Rover showroom in Sitra in the presence of company officials, businessmen and guests.
“You can charge the SUV by battery which is literary a plug in the floor,” said Jaguar Bahrain general manager Stephen Lay.
Chargers
“There is also a fast charger that charges 80 per cent of the battery in just one hour, which is amazing.
“We are currently looking for a company to install the fast chargers at people’s homes.
“We will also have fast charging points outside our showroom.
“A full charge will last around 350km, which is easily two days with average usage.
“It will cost around BD2 to charge, which is much cheaper than petrol.”
The I-Pace is propelled by two permanent magnet synchronous electric motors.
Technology
Similar to the technology found in the I‑Type Formula E racing car, these motors generate 400PS and 696Nm of torque.
The I-Pace was crowned Europe’s best ahead of last month’s Geneva International Motor Show.
The car has five seats, innovative storage, a substantial rear loadspace of over 1,453 litres and 27 litres in the front storage compartment.
The electric SUV, which has a starting price of BD20,000, is expected to be sold in Bahrain in September.
