Riyadh: A patient, a doctor and a nurse have been diagnosed with the Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) at Khafji Joint Operations Hospital, Sabq reported.
The Ministry of Health dispatched a specialised team to assess the precautionary measures and sterilise and disinfect all the hospital's facilities.
The patient has been quarantined. A doctor and a nurse who were preparing to transfer the patient to a specialised centre in Dammam have also contracted the virus.
Eastern Province health authorities reassured the public, saying that the situation in Al Khafji is stable, adding that the hospital will not be shut down.
Meanwhile, social media circulated a banner in which the hospital management appealed to people not to visit patients.
