Malkiya lost to Qadisiya of Kuwait 2-1 in a second leg Group ‘C’ match of the AFC Cup championship at Khalifa Sports City Stadium in Isa Town last night.
This defeat cost Malkiya the top spot in the group, as they slipped to second position with seven points.
Meanwhile, Al Ahed of Lebanon surged to the top of the group with eight points after they defeated Al Suwaiq of Oman 1-0 in in Muscat last night.
Malkiya and Qadisiya have seven points each.
Qadisiya shocked Malkiya with two goals by Kuwaiti International striker Bader Al Mutawa in the seventh and 37th minutes.
Malkiya reduced the margin just two minutes before half-time, with a goal by Isa Al Barri. Malkiya failed to find the equaliser with Qadisiya defending well until the end.
