SIX feature races in a card of eight are the highlights of today’s horse racing at Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club in Sakhir.
San Dimas, owned and trained by Yousif Alboainain and ridden by Abdulla Faisal, is the favourite to win the Porsche Cup for imported horses carrying a cash prize of BD3,000 and to be run over 1,800 metres, starting at 5.30pm.
Muwaaly and Neoclassical are the second and third favourites respectively.
The race for the Bahrain Jewellery Centre Cup, a handicap race, carrying a cash prize of BD3,000 and to be run over 1,400 metres, starting at 4.40pm, has attracted 10 horses while there are eight horses in the fray in the race for the Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club Cup, another handicap race, carrying a cash prize of BD2,000 and to be run over 1,400 metres, starting at 4.15pm.
The race for the Bahrain Jewellery Centre Cup, another handicap race, carrying a cash prize of BD3,000 and to be run over 2,400 metres, starting at 3.50pm, has attracted six horses.
Al Saqlawieh 1733, owned by Al Riffa, trained by Yousif Alboainain and to be ridden by Abdulla Faisal, is tipped to win the Chevron Cup for Arabian horses carrying a cash prize of BD2,000 and to be run over 1,400 metres, starting at 3.25pm.
Krayaan 1706 and Krushan 1710 are the second and third favourites respectively.
Riyada, owned by Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, trained by James Naylor and to be ridden by Andrew Elliott, is the best bet to win the Porsche Cup for locally bred horses carrying a cash prize of BD3,000 and to be run over 1,000 metres straight, starting at 3pm.
Fray
Yaoud and Saoob are expected to give the favourite a run for its money.
There are 12 horses in the fray in another handicap race carrying a cash prize of BD2,000 and to be run over 1,200 metres, starting at 5.05pm.
The day’s action starts at 2.35pm with the race for locally bred horses carrying a cash prize of BD2,000 and to be run over 2,000 metres.
Of the four horses in the fray, Al Tariq, owned by Abdulla Fawzi Nass, trained by Hesham Al Haddad and to be ridden by Husain Makki, is expected to beat its nearest rivals Pulsar and Raed.
