King’s Cup champions Riffa defeated Al Najma 3-0 to close in on the title of the Nasser bin Hamad Football Premier League last night at Khalifa Sports City Stadium in Isa Town.
Riffa now have 34 points with two more games remaining against Malkiya and Muharraq. They only need three points to secure the title.
Ali Haram scored a header off Al Najma goalkeeper Ahmed Abdulrasool in the 29th minute to put Riffa ahead.
They made it 2-0 in the 44th minute through Kumail Al Aswad, as the first half ended 2-0 for Riffa.
Emanuel completed Riffa’s easy win with a brilliant goal in the 63rd minute.
In another match played at Muharraq Club Stadium, Muharraq routed Manama 3-0 to keep their title hopes alive.
Muharraq now have 30 points and have two matches remaining, while Manama remain with 31 points and have one game left.
The first half ended goalless before Muharraq scored all their three goals in the second half.
The first goal came in the 51st minute through Mohammed Solah, before Everton hit his target in the 74th minute . Abdulrahman Al Ahmadi wrapped up the win with a goal in the 80th minute.
In today’s matches, Al Hidd will take on Al Shabab at Khalifa Sports City Stadium, Malkiya will face Al Hala at Muharraq Club Stadium, while East Riffa will go up against Budaiya at Bahrain National Stadium. All matches will be played at 6.45pm.
