BAHRAIN national mixed martial arts (MMA) team claimed seven medals to triumph in the third IMMAF-WMMAA Africa Open Championship which concluded in Johannesburg last night.
Bahraini fighters bagged four gold, one silver and two bronze in the four-day event.
On this occasion, Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, first deputy president of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and president of Bahrain Olympics Committee, congratulated His Majesty King Hamad, HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister, HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander, First Deputy Prime Minister, and Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty for Charity Works and Youth Affairs and president of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports.
He said winning seven medals in such a prestigious event was the result of His Majesty’s support to sports and youth affairs in the Kingdom.
Meanwhile, member of BOC’s board Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al Khayyat also congratulated the Kingdom’s leaders and said it was Bahrain’s second straight victory in an international event following the success of the Bahrain national boxing team in the Zayed Open Sports Championship in the UAE.
