Riyadh: A ban prohibiting outdoor work under the scorching summer heat will come into force on Saturday, June 15, across Saudi Arabia.
The Ministry of Labour and Social Development announced the three-month ban, which will run until September 15.
“Under the ban, outdoor work will be prohibited from noon until 3pm,” said ministry’s official spokesman, Khalid Abul Khail.
The ban will not apply to employees working in oil and gas sectors or conducting urgent maintenance work, on the condition that preventive measures are taken to protect them from exposure to sun-heat.
Governorates which do not usually witness peaks in temperature in summer will also be exempted.
