Saudi: The Saudi Royal Air Defence intercepted a bomb-loaded drone which was launched by the Iran-backed Houthi militia from Yemen.
The air defences detected the unmanned drone and shot it down, as it was heading to target the region of Abha, said Saudi-led Arab Alliance Spokesman Colonel Turki Al Malki.
"We affirm our legitimate right to take the appropriate deterrence measures, with such hostile acts and in conformity with international humanitarian law and its customary rules," Al Malki said.
Saudi forces on Friday intercepted five drones launched by Iran-backed Houthi militias, an Arab-led military coalition said.
The drones targeted Abha airport, where a Houthi missile on Wednesday left 26 civilians wounded, and the nearby city of Khamis Mushait, which houses a major airbase, the coalition said.
