UAE: A big pair of scissors has been removed from the stomach of an Asian woman aged 30 at a UAE hospital.
Doctors at the Rashid Hospital in Dubai screened the abdomen of the patient and discovered the 18-centimetre-long scissors.
They conducted a successful surgery and removed the metallic object which caused the patient acute pain and inflammation in the colon which was about to explode.
She was admitted to Rashid Hospital a few days after arriving in the UAE as her health deteriorated.
The doctor who performed surgery on the woman in her native country reportedly stitched the wound and forgot the scissors in her abdomen.
The scissors caused her a swollen stomach and colon inflammation and intestinal obstruction.
Dr Youssef Al Tayyeb, who operated on the patient and took out the scissors, said that the pair of scissors remained in the Asian woman’s stomach for more than three months.
