Oman: An Omani citizen drowned in Wadi Darbat in the Governorate of Dhofar, about 30 minutes from Salalah.
“Local citizens living in the area managed to pull out the body before rescue teams reached the area," stated the Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance (PACDA).
PACDA officials had issued guidelines to prevent drowning incidents during the summer season.
PACDA teams carried out 268 water rescue operations in 2016, which declined to 173 in 2017.
The number of water rescue operations dropped to 155 last year.
The areas where the majority of the water rescues usually take place are the ocean, in wadis during rainfall, dams, water ponds and open water tanks.
