A Saudi woman who abused her ex-husband on WhatsApp, Snapchat and the other social media platforms has been sentenced to three days in jail.
The Criminal Court in the city of Jeddah found the woman guilty of posting defamatory comments, tarnishing the reputation of her ex-husband by using foul language.
The man filed a lawsuit claiming that his wife harassed him online and insulted him using “racist slurs”. The two have been divorced for five years.
The woman used racist language in numerous messages to remind her ex about his origins. She described him to be rude, uncouth and devilish.
She claimed that she was just retaliating to his comments in which he defamed her and her family.
The court ordered the woman to sign a pledge never to abuse her ex again by sending him such messages.
The court sent the man and the woman to a reconciliation committee but they refused to be reconciled.
The woman defended herself by saying that her former husband used to abuse her and family while they were still married.
