The Arab troika, led by Saudi Arabia, has held meetings with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.
It also held talks with permanent members of the Security Council – the US, China, Russia, Britain and France – and Northern Ireland, Germany and UN Under-Secretary General for Political and Peace-building Affairs Rosemary A DiCarlo.
These meetings were in light of political challenges and security threats facing Arab countries and as an embodiment of the spirit of co-operation and solidarity with the Arab League Charter, implementation of the resolutions of the league, which provide for the maintenance of Arab security and ways to deal with serious threats in the Middle East.
The talks were held with the aim of maintaining peace and security in accordance with the UN Charter and international resolutions, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
These efforts also intend to strengthen co-operation and co-ordination between Arab states and the UN, members of the Security Council and influential members of the UN, in order to serve Arab causes and enhance security and stability in the region.
The meetings of the Arab troika on behalf of members of the Arab League included the Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Morocco, the UAE and Yemen, as well as an observer delegation of the league to the UN.
