Torrential overnight rain, which continued throughout the day, resulted in the Bahrain Camels final match with Blythe Cricket Club being cancelled.
The 22 players, match officials and a not inconsiderable supporting crowd were disappointed, but amused themselves in the delightful modern clubhouse with its panoramic views over the splendid Staffordshire countryside.
The traditional Camel gift was presented to Blythe CC by skipper Matt Rees, tour shirts and mementos exchanged. Then a sumptuous lunch was followed by several games of indoor cricket.
In the end who won and who lost? Nobody cared. Cricket was the winner.
The Bahrain Camels, made up of seasoned players from the Awali Cricket Club’s Taverners team, ended with a nicely balanced tour record of won 1, lost 1, drawn 1, reflected well on the evenly matched nature of the games, which all went down to the wire.
Roll on next year's 25th consecutive international tour, a spokesman told GDNonline.
