THE stage is set for the first Bahrain and Kuwait International Boxing Championship to be held tomorrow at the Crowne Plaza Bahrain.
The Bahrain Boxing Federation (BBF), which comes under the umbrella of the Bahrain Combat Sports Council, is organising the event under the patronage of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The Organising Committee’s TV Coverage supervisor Omar Salis yesterday held a meeting with Bahrain TV Sport Channel chairperson Mariam Isa Boukamal and other officials to finalise the media coverage of this event.
Boukamal stressed the directives of Information Affairs Minister Ali bin Mohammed Al Romaihi to ensure a good coverage of this inaugural event.

The following fighters will represent Bahrain:
1 43kg (Schoolboy) ALI BUKHALAF, aged 13, recently competed in Asain Schoolboy Championships in only his second bout.
2 46kg (Junior) SAYED FADHEL, aged 14, who will box also in the upcoming Asian Junior Championships in UAE in October.
3 60kg (Junior) MOHAMMED MAHDHI, aged 15, who will also box in the UAE.
4 80+kg (Junior) QASSIM OSAMA, aged 16, will complete the team of three entered into Asian Junior Championships.
5 52kg (Elite) MUHAMMED BILAL who was the first-ever boxer to represent Bahrain at an International Tournament in Bangkok at the Asian Elite Championships.
6 57kg (Elite) Team captain YOUSUF ALBALOOSHI will lead the fighters in this event.
7 63kg (Elite) ALI SAEED, ‘very good talented boxer’, who is still only 19.
8 69kg (Elite) ABDUALLA FADHEL ‘a determined operator’ who came away with a Gold Medal and ‘Best Boxer’ accolade out at a Ramadan Tournament hosted in the UAE in May.
9 91+kg (Elite) DANIS LATYPOV, a ‘seasoned boxer’ who will aim to qualify for the Olympics.
