BAHRAIN’S confident boxers are determined to make a positive impression on sport fans when they step into the ring for tonight’s first-ever international championship event in the Gulf region.
The debut Bahrain and Kuwait International Boxing Championship will take place in front of a black tie audience at the Crowne Plaza Bahrain and armchair fight fans are set to get a taste of the action too on Bahrain TV.
“I am more excited for the boxers, as I can tell they have been waiting for opportunities like this and you can see the sport is making a difference to their lives for the better … and this is only the beginning,” said Bahrain national boxing coach Tony Davis, 45.
Patronage
The Bahrain Boxing Federation (BBF), which comes under the umbrella of the Bahrain Combat Sports Council, is organising the event under the patronage of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
On tonight’s card wearing the red of Bahrain are Ali Bukhalaf, Sayed Fadhel, Mohammed Mahdhi, Qassim Osama, Muhammed Bilal, team captain Yousuf Albalooshi, Ali Saeed, Abdualla Fadhel and Danis Latypov.
