Bahrain athletes captured 27 medals including eight gold in the 2nd West Asia Paralympics Championship held in Jordan.
Roba Al Amri shone brightest for Bahrain after bagging three gold in shot-put (7.04m), discuss throw (20.03m) and javelin throw (16.6m).
Fatima Abdulrahman won two gold in discuss throw (9.32m) and shot-put (5.42m). Zahra Kulaib also clinched a pair of gold in javelin throw (12.09m) and shot-put (6.07m).
Amal Fardan added another gold for Bahrain in javelin throw (9.04m).
Ten silver medals were won by Bahrain, courtesy of Amal Al Fardan (discuss throw 12.01m) and shot-put (5.51m); Fatima Abdulrazzaq (javelin throw 7.25m); Mohammed Jassim (shot-put 7.26m); Elyes El Yassi (100m run); Ahmed Mushaima (javelin throw 35.79m; Mohammed Al Hammadi (100m run); Sayed Ali Al Wedae (Bocce “single”); Aymen Al Hiddi (Bocce “single”); and Bocce“team”.
A total of nine bronze medals were also captured by Bahrain through Mariam Saber (discuss throw 22.46m, shot-put 9.03m and javelin throw (20.83m); Elyes El Yassi (200m run and long jump t47 category-5.76 m); Nassar Al Murraisi (100m wheelchair); Saad Mohammed (club throw 24.36m); Mohammed Jawad (200m wheelchair race 1.00.05mn); and Ahmed Mushaima (shot-put 11.91m).
