Jeddah: Saudi Arabia yesterday slammed the murderous, terrorist and aggressive nature of the Iranian regime since its establishment four decades ago.
“The Iranian regime has known nothing but bombing, destruction and assassination for 40 years,” said the Cabinet at its weekly session.
Chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the session highlighted the Saudi call to the international community to take a firm stand to end the terrorist and aggressive conduct of the Tehran regime.
The stance was voiced by Saudi Foreign Minister Dr Ibrahim Al Assaf in a keynote speech before the 74th session of the UN General Assembly, in which he exposed the rogue and terrorist nature of the Iranian regime.
The Cabinet expressed in this regard its appreciation for the condemnation and denunciation by participating countries of the attacks on two oil plants in Khurais and Abqaiq affiliated to Aramco.
It described the attacks as a serious threat to the security of the region, international security and global energy supplies. The countries were also thanked for their support of all measures taken by Saudi Arabia to enhance its security and confront any aggression.
Meanwhile, the commander of US Naval Forces Central Command and US Fifth Fleet visited Riyadh to discuss with the head of Saudi Arabia’s naval forces ways to reinforce defences against Iranian threats.
“This visit was an opportunity to discuss our mutual efforts going forward to co-ordinate defence against provocation and attack,” Vice Admiral Jim Malloy said in a statement.
