A highly competitive field of 17 cars will be lining up on the grid tomorrow for the first round of the 2019/2020 BIC 2,000cc Challenge, taking place at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) in Sakhir.
The 2,000cc will be headlining the National Race Day programme, which also includes Round One of the Bahrain Motorcycle Racing (BMR) 600.
All the action will be taking place along BIC’s 2.55-kilometre Inner Track from 4.45pm until after 10pm. Both championships will hold two races apiece on the day, each of which will be under floodlights.
All are welcome to attend. Tickets are available at the gate at BD2 for adults and half the price for children.
National Race Day is being organised by BIC in cooperation with the Bahrain Motor Federation, Circuit Racing Club and Bahrain Motorcycle Club.
The BIC 2,000cc Challenge was established in 2007 and today it is the longest-running circuit racing series in the region. Following simple regulations yet being extremely fun to watch, it is the ideal venue for gentlemen racers to showcase their skills in a hotly contested and professionally run championship.
The drivers are divided into two classes, including the Pro and the Novice.
Spearheading the Pro class this first round are defending champion Tareq Al Tajer and a number of former champions including Shaikh Salman bin Isa bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, Shaikh Hamad bin Isa bin Ebrahim Al Khlifa and Raed Himmo.
Others in this weekend’s Pro category entry list are lady participant Martyna Al Qassab, Nasser Al Alawi, Giovanni Salerno, Majed Himmo, Raed Raffii, Ahmed Bin Khanen, Abdulla Al Qaoud and Mohammed Faqihi.
