Dammam: A Saudi doctor has been sentenced to fifteen years in jail and fined SR150,000 for attempting to smuggle amphetamine pills.
Customs officers working at King Fahd International Airport in the city of Dammam searched his luggage and discovered 12,000 pills hidden in his clothes.
The Criminal Court found him guilty and sentenced him to be flogged 1,500 times.
The court has also banned him from travelling abroad for 15 years after serving his jail term.
