Riyadh: Saudi women have today started applying to join the armed forces in a first in the country.
The Ministry of Defence’s Admission and Recruitment Committee is receiving online applications through its electronic portal.
The Ministry of Defence opened the applications last week for Saudi women, holders of all types of qualifications, to apply for military jobs.
Those who are admitted can work in the ranks of first soldier, corporal, deputy sergeant and sergeant in the branches of the Saudi Royal Land Forces, the Royal Air Forces, Royal Navy, Royal Saudi Air Defence Forces, strategic missiles sector, and medical services for the armed forces.
Eligible candidates should be born and living in Saudi, medically fit, aged from 21 to 40, 155 centimetres tall, with a clean judicial record and holder of the high school certificates at least.
Saudi women who lived abroad with their parents, government employees and those married to non-Saudis will be not be admitted.
