PERFORMANCES of a traditional Indian theatre form will be held in Bahrain this weekend.
Patla Foundation Bahrain and Saudi Arabia will host its first annual Yakshagana show on Friday at the Indian Club premises in Gudaibiya at 2pm.
Titled ‘Krishna Leela-Kamsa Vade’ and ‘Sathya Harischandra’, the two performances will be led by Saudi Havyasi Kalavidaru, guest artistes from India and performers from Bahrain.
The unique art is an ancient south Indian dance form which involves colourful costumes and music.
The artistes from India include Patla founder Sathish Shetty Patla who will be the event chief guest, Permude Jayaprakash Shetty, Sushma Mairpady, Halladi Jayarama Shetty, Konkanaje Chandrashekar Bhat and Guruprasad Bolinjadka.
The foundation is a socio-cultural association established in 2015 to preserve, encourage and improve ancient Indian art forms all over India and overseas. It has 36 units including some in the US and other GCC countries.
