Mohammed Salah scored 23 points to steer Al Hala to an emphatic 95-63 victory over Samaheej in a Group B encounter of the Bahrain Basketball Association Cup at the Zain Arena in Um Al Hassam last night.
Al Hala’s domination was complete, barring a minor setback in the second quarter. They eased through the opening session, claiming it 25-10 before slipping in the second canto which Samaheej took 22-18. At half-time Hala had a considerable 11-point lead.
Hala continued with added vigour after the interval and made rapid progress as Salah, who sunk three three-pointers in the game, and team-mate Cook scored with ease. Samaheej’s predicament was evident from the fact they they took almost six minutes to add to their points in the second half.
Hala’s 18-point lead after the third quarter enabled coach Saleh Al Haddad to play some of his younger players. Cook was taken off five minutes before time and Salah two minutes later.
Cook scored 22 points while Ahmed Jamal contributed 19 and Ahmed Al Motawa chipped in with 14.
Samaheej’s top scorer was Nooraldeen Mohamed with 13 points. He was supported by Antwan Wilkerson with 12 points and Ali Mahmood Faraj with 10.
