AFTER a week spent impressing on the international stage, Bahrain-based schoolboy Luca Houghton was last night bumped out of the final of the Micro Max class on the last day of the 2019 Rotax Max Challenge (RMC) Grand Finals at Circuito Internationale di Napoli in Sarno, Italy.
Houghton was looking to crown a strong week with a good showing in the finale, but in the frantic battle of the race, featuring 36 of the top Micro Max drivers in the world, he was caught up in an incident that sidelined him after a tremendous early showing.
Mohammed Matar failed to make it into the Senior MAX final but was on hand to cheer his young teammate on the day.
“It was a shame that Luca’s championship ended in such a cruel manner as he had potential to be in the top ten,” said Bahrain team manager Hasan Al Shehabi.
“Nevertheless it was a great experience for Mohammed and Luca who showed that they have the pace, and represent Bahrain karting in the best manner possible.”
