Kuwait: The IMF's Middle East Centre for Economics and Finance (CEF) in Kuwait has trained about 5,400 government employees since its official launch in 2014, said the centre's director.
In a statement to KUNA, Oussama Kanaan said the centre has provided about 120 activities and sought to expand training so as to address growing global challenges.
The centre is planning to focus on general seminars which address current economic developments in collaboration with some economic bodies of Kuwait, he added.
Several symposiums were organised and dealt with key issues of Kuwait's economy like subsidies and taxes, he said.
The mission of the centre is to build capabilities through practical training provided to decision-makers of Arab League member states and hold conferences, seminars and discussions aiming to promote economic policies and implement them in the region, he said.
Participation of the Central Bank of Kuwait in the conference of Islamic financing which had positive reactions across the globe was among prominent activities of the centre over the year, he stated.
