Riyadh: A Turkish man is facing legal action in Saudi Arabia after attempting to steal antiquities showcased at the Mecca Grand Mosque Architecture Museum.
The Turkish expatriate entered the museum via the restrooms and sneaked into the centre of the museum, located in Umm Al Jood district.
He then tried to steal some antiquities by smashing the thick glass barriers inside the museum to reach the most valuable antiquities.
The security guards, who were about to change shift, checked the cameras and saw the thief trying to escape from the scene.
They caught the man who will appear today before the Public Prosecution to face charges, according to Almarsd.
