AWALI Golf Club and head professional Rory Young added a new competitive edge to the junior golf scene in Bahrain with the introduction of the McWane International Junior Masters.
McWane International is a global company which is represented in Bahrain by club member John Parker.
Their kind sponsorship allowed the juniors a unique opportunity to play three specially designed holes and take home some prizes.
The course was set up with three holes measuring between 50 and 75 yards.
The first hole of the day was a 50-yard hole, where players had to get their ball to finish inside a roped off area which was one-feet in diameter.
The second was slightly longer (62 yards) and the target of this hole was to hit a metal trash can.
The final hole was 75 yards playing to the first brown which has a fairly steep hill about 15 yards short of the brown.
As each player made their way through the course three players separated themselves – Paula and Patricia Ascanio along with Samuel Lobo. Patricia and Samuel were playing together so had each other to keep an eye on whilst Paula had started one hole behind in the shotgun start.
Final results: 1 Paula (18 shots), 2 Samuel (19), 3 Patricia (20).
During the presentation ceremony the juniors were presented with caps, generously sponsored by McWane International.
