Kuwait: Chairman of National Assembly Youth and Sports Committee MP Abdullah Almaayouf announced that a delegation, including MPs and veteran athletes, would tour the world to rally support for efforts to end International Olympic Committee's (IOC) suspension of Kuwait's sport activities.
The delegation would visit international sports associations and federations as well as friendly countries to call for an end to the ‘unfair suspension which have gravely impacted national sports,’ Almaayouf told reporters.
The lawmaker underlined the need to focus on the General Assembly of FIFA which will study its executive office's decision to suspend Kuwait.
Last November, the National Assembly tackled the IOC resolution and the disgruntled MPs demanded an urgent investigation into the case and a series of measures to address the causes that led to the suspension.
The Executive Board (EB) of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on October 27, 2015 suspended the Kuwait Olympic Committee (KOC) to protect the Olympic Movement in Kuwait from undue government interference.
It said the local sports laws were against the Olympic Charter.
