Jeddah: A court in Saudi Arabia has sentenced eleven people to jail with prison terms ranging from two months to one year after they were arrested in a wild party in the city of Jeddah.
According to a report in Arabic daily Okaz, the defendants include six Saudi nationals including three women, three Moroccan women and two Indian men.
They were earlier sentenced to jail with prison terms ranging from eight days to 14 months and 50 to 150 lashes.
The verdict was challenged by the court of appeals which said it was too lenient.
They were arrested following a raid by the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice.
They were charged with possessing and consuming drugs, organising a wild party, possessing immoral pictures and clips, and resisting arrest.
Prosecutors also charged them with consuming alcohol and disturbing the public order.
The court held five sessions before pronouncing its final verdict.
