One of the leading companies in the business of recycling in the kingdom, Crown Industries has announced the official launch of its newly-built state-of-the-art Waste Incineration Plant at South Alba Industrial Area.
Environment protection is a global concern for a nation’s sustainability and Bahrain has made great efforts to ensure environmental sustainability in many areas.
The kingdom has paid close attention to environmental protection to maintain balance in urban development requirements and environmental sustainability.
It is a main pillar of Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 and its National Strategic Master Plan.
As a pioneering recycling company in Bahrain, Crown Industries is the only company in the kingdom with full capability to recycle ferrous, non-ferrous scrap metals, plastic, electric and instrumentation cables, plant and obsolete machinery, equipment.
It is also specialised in industrial dismantling projects and has facilities for melting aluminium scrap to ingot, steel scrap to billet and turning plastic scrap to granules.
Crown Industries possesses experience and knowledge in the recycling business, long-term London Metal Exchange (LME) rates and short-term contracts with various companies in Bahrain for their scrap and waste disposal.
After completion of the process, the bulk of the recycled products are exported to different parts of the world.
The company’s main clientele include various export markets such as India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, China, Taiwan, the UAE, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore and Europe.
The company owns a comprehensive fleet of logistics such as transport and heavy vehicles, plants and machineries.
It is geared for lifting heavy equipment and handling feedstock quickly and efficiently with the help of trained and highly-skilled staff.
Through its full range of activities, the company makes sure that it always contributes positively to the government’s environmental programmes and comply with all set standards, regulations and local law.
Bahrain like all other countries in the world is faced with challenges to find solutions towards a sound and effective waste management of hazardous and toxic chemicals.
After careful studies, Crown Industries identified that the obvious solution is to incinerate and get rid of these toxic substances in an environmentally-friendly way instead of sending it to a waste landfill as done in various countries worldwide.
By incinerating such waste chemicals and bio-medical waste, we can safeguard land scarcity from toxic fills in an eco-friendly manner and also eliminate pollution.
Crown Incineration service uses a hi-tech, fully-automated incinerator with 100 per cent environmental compliance to serve the hazardous industrial waste disposal needs of Bahrain.
This plant consists of a highly-efficient dust filtration system and an automated five-stage after burner gas control system to ensure clean air is released during the process with acceptable norms set by the environment authorities.
The capacity of this incineration plant is 70 tonnes per day, and it is the first-of-its-kind in the country built with world-class technology to handle hazardous, industrial, chemical and bio-medical waste.
“We operate strictly adhering to the prevailing environmental law in Bahrain,” said managing director Ali Alsaad.
“We believe that the officials at the Supreme Council for Environment are of the same calibre and expertise of any developed country in the world and working with them has been a blessing.
“We take continual efforts to reduce waste, reuse, recycle and incinerate toxic substances.”
The company holds ISO certificates and maintains them since 2003.
It has been certified as:
– ISO 9001:2015: Quality Management System
– ISO 14001: 2015: Environmental - Management System
– ISO 45001: 2018: Occupational Health and Safety Management System
