Ken Belt, Erwin Godinho and Sparsh Parmar entered the quarter-finals in under-12 boys singles section of the 21st BBK Juniors Open Tennis Championship at Bahrain Tennis Club in Juffair last night.
The second-round matches in the under-12 section saw players overcome tough battles to reach the last eight stage.
Mohammed Kamran could not repeat his first round performance and fell to a crushing defeat against Ken Belt 6-0, 6-0.
Erwin Godinho and Yousef Fares, who both received a bye in the first round, came face to face in the second round with Erwin managing to record a 6-4, 6-0 win.
The third match saw Sparsh Parmar put in a champion-like display to ease past Mubarak Al Khalifa 6-0, 6-1.
Sonawane Anshuman also continued his splendid show in the tournament by defeating Jaber Abdulaal 5-7, 6-2, 14-12 after an intense battle.
Mohammed Al Khan and Sairghav defeated Fares Hajjar and Michael James respectively with identical scores, 6-2, 6-1, to face each other in the quarterfinals.
Mohammed Al Shehabi had to face a tough battle against Dhaij Al Khalifa and eventually managed to record a 6-4, 6-1 win.
The last game of the second round saw Miyawaki Kazuma record a 6-1, 6-2 win against Mittal Vineesh.
Meanwhile, in the second round of under-14 boys doubles, Vineesh M. and Kishan P. managed to defeat Mohammed huda and Essam Janahi 6-2, 6-3 and they play Jaber Abdulaal and Esa Al Qattan in the quarterfinal today.
Kazuma Miyawaki and Anshuman S. qualified directly to the next round after a walkover against Amin Rayyan and Zeyad. The duo will play Jerome Shibu and Erwin Godinho today.
Maro Ugarkovic and Pajouyan Niousha also qualified with a walkover against Mohammed Kamran and Daniel Fatih and are set to play Ken Belt and Sai Raghav.
The last quarterfinal match, to be played today, will see Riku Takano and Wakmatsu Hiroki take on Sparsh Parmar and Mohammed Al Kan.
Sparsh and Mohammed were granted a bye in the earlier rounds while Riku and Wakmatsu gained a walkover against Karim Adam and Leo Sudar.
