YOUNG showjumper Pepa Foury produced a stunning performance en route to earning a well-deserved victory in the first youth competition at Al Raffa.
The event was held as part of the second round of the showjumping season which is taking place under the sponsorship of Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (Breef) president Shaikh Isa bin Abdullah Al Khalifa.
Riding Guardian, Foury jumped to victory in 28.91 seconds and without committing any fault. In second place came Jameela Hassid who was four seconds behind the winner, while Hussain Asghar took third place after completing the event in 43.42 seconds and with four faults.
In the second event for youth, Hussain Asghar made up for his third-place finish earlier by topping the podium, clocking 32.82 seconds. In second place was Sultan Al Rumaihi who posted a time of 31.61, with four faults. Asghar was in top form in this race, winning the third place too with four faults.
The winners were honoured by championship manager Mohammed Dadaallah and Horse Pride Company owner Huda Janahi.
“I am very happy with my performances and results. I wasn’t lucky in the first competition, but I showed my worth in the second,” Asghar said, adding, “I trained hard and my efforts throughout the week were fruitful.”
Al Rumaihi said, “I managed to win second place in the second competition and fifth place in the first one. I am trying to learn a lot from my brother Mayoof. He is my idol in this sport.”
