Vasco Castle Boys have won the Goans Seven-a-side Inter-village Football championship after defeating Chandor Sporting 2-1 through penalty shootout in the final at Al Najoom Ground in Gudaibiya.
Chandor led the first half 2-0 through Neceil Pinto’s double strike. Early in the second half, Chandor’s Lesten Martins sent down a powerful kick to Vasco goal which was deflected in by Colin Fernandes, resulting in an own goal giving Chandor a 3-0 advantage.
Later, Vasco skipper Shanon Dias converted two penalties in a span of nine minutes to make it 2-3 and he struck again just minutes before the final whistle to level the score 3-3. Both teams could not add to their score in the extra time.
In the shootout, Shanon Dias and Oliver D’Souza netted in for Vasco and Neceil Pinto was on target for Sporting.
In the third-place match Majorda Milagres MJD Salcete outplayed Divar Snipers 6-1. Elvino Dunga Fernandes and Dominic Soares struck twice and Tanvez Mohammed and Edwin Almeida netted once for the winners while Adrian Noronha scored the consolation goal for Divar.
