Manama: More than 2,000 Bahrainis will leave for Doha today to cheer on the national team as they play Saudi Arabia in the final of the Gulf Cup. People yesterday flocked in big numbers to book a seat on the chartered planes that will take them to the Qatari capital. The match, which will be played at Abdulla bin Khalifa stadium, will conclude two weeks of intense competition between the Gulf-24 teams. Bahrain had previously won 5-3 against Iraq and will today take on Saudi Arabia which is one of the strongest teams in Asia.
Meanwhile, Bahrain Cinema Company will broadcast the final, scheduled to begin at 7pm.
The doors will open at 6pm for fans wishing to watch the match at four Cineco branches in City Centre Bahrain, Seef, Oasis Juffair and Wadi Al Sail malls. The Youth and Sports Ministry has co-ordinated the initiative.
