Kuwait: First hand-written book in Kuwait dates back to 1682 and the first printed book was published in 1947 - a novel titled ‘Story of the Cold-Hearted,’ according to Kuwaiti researcher Saleh Al-Mesbah.
Al-Mesbah said Kuwaitis started printing Arabic and English publications and books in the 50s of the past century, during the era of founder of modern Kuwait, late Sheikh Abudullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah.
During his reign, the first official newspaper was published; incorporating resolutions by State departments and news about tenders.
The oldest book that was written by hand in the country was ‘Al-Mawte',’ in 1682.
The first Kuwaiti book, printed in India dates to 1919.
It was a poetry diwan (collection of poems) by Abdullah Al-Faraj.
Also at the time, Abdul-Latif Abdulrazzak printed books about dhows' captains and pearl traders.
