Kuwait City: Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) has referred the hacking of its Twitter account on January 8 to the Public Prosecution for investigation.
"Prosecutors will thoroughly investigate the act that aimed to tarnish KUNA’s image and undermine its credibility," said KUNA director general and chairman Shaikh Mubarak Duaij Al Sabah in a press release, emphasising that the state-run news agency will continue to thrust Kuwait’s accomplishments into the limelight.
The agency has also referred the results of the probe it had conducted to Information Minister Mohammad Al Jabri.
Head of Kuwait’s government communication office Tareq Al Muzraem had said that KUNA's Twitter account had been hacked and used to spread false information about "an imminent US troops withdrawing" from the country.
