Muscat: More than 60 workers have refused to go on work over non-payment of salaries as offered in their job contracts and non-supply of food for the last few days.
According to protestors, they paid between OMR300 to OMR500 to recruitment agencies back in India to get jobs in Oman.
“We are not getting any payment from the company. Moreover, the company is not providing any food as well. We are starving. How can we go to work without food? We are stuck here,” Times of Oman quoted some of the workers as saying.
However, the company said it had paid half of the salary to the workers and they are planning to send them back as company is facing a financial crisis.
The workers also said they were living in inhuman conditions as the company did not provide decent accommodation.
