A TOTAL of 6,029 Bahrainis were employed in the fourth quarter of last year, according to a report released by the Labour and Social Development Ministry yesterday.
An average of 2,010 Bahrainis were employed every month, which was a slight decline compared with the third quarter that saw an average of 2,036 citizens recruited per month.
“The total of employed citizens during the fourth quarter of 2015 reached 6,029 with a monthly average of 2,010 in comparison with the average of 2,036 from the third quarter of 2015,” said Labour and Social Development Minister Jameel Humaidan.
“That is a strong indicator of the consistency of the job market in the kingdom and its ability to generate job opportunities for its residents.”
November saw the highest increase in the number of employees with 2,316 Bahrainis employed.
Female employees made up 37 per cent of the total number of citizens recruited until the end of the quarter, 424 of which were employed through job searching programmes.
However, this shows a slight decrease from the 40pc recorded at the end of the third quarter of the same year.
The unemployment rate increased to 3.4pcin the final quarter from 3.1pc recorded in the third quarter.
The number of unemployed Bahrainis were 6,275 in October, 6,577 in November and 6,946 in December.
Two–thirds of unemployed Bahrainis are aged between 20 and 29.
Meanwhile, the number of people benefiting from unemployment assistance has increased from 374 individuals in October to 395 in December.
