AL HIDD maintained their place atop the standings of the 2019-2020 Nasser bin Hamad Bahrain Premier League with a hard-earned 2-1 victory over Riffa last night at Khalifa Sports City Stadium in Isa Town.
On target for Hidd were Mohammed Fares and Jasser Hamed while Riffa’s lone consolation was supplied by Mahdi Abduljabbar.
The result was Hidd’s fourth win from six games. They improved to 13 on the league table. Riffa suffered their third loss after five contests and they stay in the bottom half of the standings with six points.

Also yesterday, East Riffa defeated Manama 2-1 at the same venue while Al Najma edged past Busaiteen 2-1 at the Al Ahli Club stadium in Zinj.
In East Riffa’s victory, Baqer Hawsawi and Sami Al Hussaini were on target on either side of half-time. Isa Jehad connected for Manama.
East Riffa moved to second on the standings with their third victory, giving them 10 points, while Manama suffered their first loss and they are on nine points.
In Al Najma’s win, Ali Madan and Ali Muneer scored a goal apiece while on target for Busaiteen was Abdulla Duaij.
Al Najma came away with their second triumph in the league as they improved to eight points, while Busaiteen suffered their second loss, they also have eight points.
League action continues tonight with another two matches on schedule. Set for a 4.40pm kick-off, Al Hala take on Al Shabab while at 7.15pm, Al Ahli face off with Muhrraq.
Both matches are set to be played at the Khalifa Sports City stadium.
